Anthony Lance Evangelista, 58, of Hilo, passed away on March 16, 2017. Anthony was born on April 7, 1958 in Oʻahu. He worked as a plumber and sanitary worker. Anthony’s 1 year Celebration of life and scattering of cremains will be held at Richardson’s Beach Park on Friday March 16, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

He is survived by his wife; Richelle Evangelista, son; Anthony Hasegawa, daughters; Nicole Hasegawa, Tasha Anderson and Tiffany Hasegawa, brothers; Robert Evangelista, Burke Lee, Kirk Lee, Bruce Lee, Boya Evangelista and Michael Evangelista, sisters; Donna Hayashida and Roxanne Lee,14 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard Bartsch

Richard Paul Bartsch
November 11, 1934 – March 15, 2017

Richard Paul Bartsch, 82, of Holualoa, Hawaiʻi, was born in Aurora, Ill. on Nov. 11, 1934, and passed away on March 15, 2017 in Keauhou, Hawaiʻi. Richard served our Country in the Army and worked as an Attorney of Law.


He is survived wife Rosemary; sons Christian Bartsch of Haleʻiwa, Oʻahu; Jonathan (Sheri) Bartsch of Kapaʻau, Hawaiʻi; daughters Lisa (William) Vazquez of Holualoa, Hawaiʻi; Robin (Donald) Fisher of Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi; Monica (Todd) Quam of Sacramento, California; hanai son Michael Spinelli of Kailua-Kona; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2 p.m., April 1, at Living Stones Church, Ali’i Drive Site, 76-6224 Ali’i Drive, Kailua-Kona.

Arthur A. Rutledge Jr.
October 22, 1954 – March 15, 2017

Arthur A. Rutledge Jr., 62, of Pāhoa, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was born on Oct. 22, 1954 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. No Services Held. Arthur is survived by his spouse Lynette Tonaki-Rutledge of Honolulu; daughter Kelli Rutledge of Honolulu; brother Tony Rutledge of Honolulu; and sister Anna Rutledge of Honolulu. Manuel Vincent Jr., 75, of Hilo, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Service to be held at Ballard Family Mortuary-Hilo (570 Kinoole Street Hilo, HI 96720) on Saturday, April 1, 2017.


Visitation 10 a.m., Service at 11 a.m. Burial to be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery (45-425 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744) on April 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. He is survived by his daughter Tracy (Louis) Santana of Kaneohe, HI; sisters Lorna Rosa and Helene Catriz of Hilo, Ellen Jean Vincent of California, Catherine (Dennis) Olsen of Michigan and Winona (Jimmy) Stout of Texas. Manuel is also survived by Sister-in -Law Annette Vincent of Honokaʻa; 2 grandchildren Cayli Rose Santana and Colton Vincent Santana; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Wadell L. Davis, 36, of Pukalani, passed away on March 22, 2017 at Kula Hospital. He was born on August 7, 1980 in Maui.

Private family services were held.
Wadell is survived by his father, Allen W. Davis; mother, Gordean Kakalia; sisters, Alana (Francisco) Matesanz, and Victoria Davis; grandfather, David Kakalia, grandmother, Bertha Davis; niece, Sienna Matesanz; aunt, RoseLee Kepo’o (Apollo), uncle, David G. Kakalia Jr.; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wadell was predeceased by his grandmother, Rose Kakalia; and grandfather, Eddie Davis.

Melanie Marie Ferreira, 56 of Wailuku, passed away on March 21, 2017 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 11, 1960 in Wailuku.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Anthony Church in Wailuku, mass will begin at 11 a.m. and burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park.

Melanie worked as a branch manager for Kahului Airport Parking.

She is survived by her companion, Sonny Morreira; daughters, Rhonda (Norman) and Raelani Urago; siblings, Steven Ferreira, Nelson Ferreira, Shirley Ann Ferreira, Verna Barcai, Terry (Carlton Galang) Ferreira, Damien Ferreira, and Ronald Ferreira; and 1 grandson, Jonah.

Michael A. Freitas, 62, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2017, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 1, 1954 in Honolulu.

Michael was predeceased by his father, John Freitas, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Maryanne Doria; sisters, Patricia Deloso, JoAnne (Rodney) Fukumoto, Shirley Larson; brother, John Freitas, Jr.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Constance Marie Mathias
September 21, 1933 – March 9, 2017

Constance Marie Mathias, 83, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on March 9, 2017, in the care of Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 21, 1933 in Wailuku, Maui.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Norman’s Mortuary at 4 to 9 p.m.; service at 5 p.m.; burial at Maui Veteran’s Cemetery on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 9 a.m.

Constance was a Supervisor in the retail industry. She was is predeceased by her father, Manuel Correa, mother, Marie Correa, and son, Ernest Mathias Jr. Constance is survived by her husband Ernest Mathias Sr.; son Kevin (Dianna) Mathias; daughters, Deborah (Ken) Sinclair, Liane (Clayton) Aloy; grandchildren, Brandon Mathias, Kawika Mathias, Kapena Mathias, Keola Curnan, James Aloy, Jodee Aloy, Mandy Sinclair, Mitchell Mathias, and Megan Mathias.

Gilbert “Jun” Aquino, Jr.
July 24, 1965 – March 9, 2017

Gilbert “Jun” Aquino, Jr., 51, of Kīhei, passed away on March 9, 2017 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 24, 1965 in Honolulu.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Ballard Family Mortuary, service will begin at 11 a.m., and cremation will follow.

Gilbert formerly worked for the County of Maui Department of Water Supply, Dollar Rent-a Car, and Maui Disposal.

He is survived by his children, Nolan Kainalu Aquino, and Krislyn Pualeionalani Aquino; mother, Georgia Siliado; sisters, Faith (Dennis) Peralta, and Hope Aquino; brothers, Claude Aquino, Ronald (Luz) Siliado, Ducaine Alika (Crystal) Siliado, Nathan Aquino, and Nelson Aquino; pet dog, “Bebe”; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Pedro Balderama Tuquero, Sr.
February 23, 1918 – March 2, 2017

Pedro Balderama Tuquero, Sr., 99, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on March 2, 2017, at his home, under the care of his son, Pedro Tuquero, Jr. and family. He was born on Feb. 23, 1918, in Tayum Abra, Philippines.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church Kahului; prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church; mass will begin at 9:30 a.m.; burial will follow, 11:00 a.m., at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao.

Pedro was a retired Radio Operator in the Philippines Army and a decorated World War II combat veteran. He later worked and retired as a Houseman for Royal Lahaina Hotel. He was predeceased by his wife, Dominga Marinas Tuquero, brothers, Jose (Felipa) Tuquero, Feliciano (Felicidad) Tuquero, Loreto Tuquero; and sister, Filomena (Resurrection) Talledo. He is survived by his brothers, Steven (Victoria) Tuquero, Ricardo (Maria) Tuquero; sons, Bailon (Rosafe Ramos) Tuquero, Pedro (Elsenia Lapez) Tuquero, Jr., Ernesto (Valentina Ramos) Tuquero, Gil (Michelle Miyake) Tuquero, John (Debra Cabanilla) Tuquero; daughters, Juanita (Enrique Sr.) Paa, Marina (Henry) Cortez, Alicia (Miguel Jr.) Aguinaldo, Margarita (Constante) Garcia; adopted daughters, Maritess Tuquero, Romely (Arnold) Lagat, Jocelyn (John Sr.) Kanohokula; sister-in-law, Cristina Tejero Tuquero; 34 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
