Hawaii Opera Theatre (HOT), the Islands’ only major opera company, will debut on Hawaiʻi Island with its chamber opera experience of Three Decembers on March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Kahilu Theatre.

Three Decembers, composed by American composer Jake Heggie, is based on Terrence McNally’s play about Broadway star Madeline Mitchell as she enters the twilight of her career. The story follows Madeline who, estranged from her children, gradually reveals secrets she has kept over 30 years in a struggle to reclaim her identity as part of a family.

Frederica von Stade will star as Madeline. Ms. von Stade is described as “one of the most recognizable and beloved performers in classical music.” The six-time Grammy Award nominee has appeared in opera, concert and recital performances around the globe.

Tickets for Three Decembers are available for purchase online or by calling (808) 885-6868.
