High Surf Advisory Canceled as Swell Fades

High Surf Advisory: North shore of Big Island through 6 p.m. Friday.

Big Island Surf Forecast
Hilo side: Wave heights are forecast to be head high to a foot or so overhead today.
Kona side: Wave heights are expected to be knee/waist high today.
South: Wave heights are expected to be knee/waist high today.
Advisory level surf will continue for the north shore of the Big Island through the day today but fading. A moderate northwest is forecast for Sunday with a larger swell on its heels, peaking Monday just below advisory levels and fading Tuesday.
A series of small south swells are also expected through the next week starting with a small southwest showing Friday and a slightly bigger southwest for the weekend.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
