Food Basket Feed-A-Thon founder Kahikina Ching is extending the holiday spirit of helping those in need by scheduling 10 days in February where Hawaiʻi Island residents can help feed hungry families.

Hawaiʻi Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) will be accepting food and monetary donations at all locations Islandwide during the food drive, as well as select KTA Supermarkets beginning Wednesday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 17. In addition, HCFCU staff will also be selling specialty ribbons with all proceeds benefitting the Food Basket.

“Every day during the Feed-A-Thon we see our members and staff donating money and canned food. Whether it’s just one can or one dollar, every donation helps,” said Tricia Buskirk, Hawaiʻi Community Federal Credit Union president and CEO.  “It’s so uplifting to experience these type of activities that strengthen our community as we show compassion, caring and understanding for one another.”

Both food and monetary donations are equally welcomed. Money donated can be used to purchase food items from KTA at wholesale prices. Since 2002, Food-A-Thon has provided more than a million pounds of food to those in need.

Food and monetary donations may be brought to any HCFCU branch:
