Sen. Mazie K. Hirono demanded that President Donald Trump rescind his executive order establishing a Muslim ban during a rally on the steps of the Supreme Court on Monday, Jan. 30.

“Donald Trump can deny it all he wants, but we understand him loud and clear,” said Sen. Hirono. “This is a Muslim ban and it’s deeply wrong. If we don’t speak out against Trump’s Muslim ban now, we will be complicit in what comes next. President Trump must rescind this despicable, immoral executive order immediately.”

Sen. Hirono also shared the story of Fred Korematsu, the civil rights hero who resisted the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II all the way to the Supreme Court. Today would have been Mr. Korematsu’s 98th birthday.
