High Winds Prompt Wind Advisory for Big Island

High Surf Advisory: East and north shores of Big Island through 6 p.m. Monday.
Gale Warning: Alenuihaha channel and southern coastal waters through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Small Craft Advisory: All remaining coastal waters due to east winds 20 to 30 knots. Posted through Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Wind Advisory: Kohala Mountains and interior parts of the Big Island through 6 p.m. Monday for east winds from 25 to 35 mph, gusting to 50 mph.

Looking Ahead
Gusty strong trades will continue through the first half of the week. Clouds and showers are forecast for mainly windward and mauka spots in the morning and overnight hours. The breezy trade winds are expected to carry some of these showers into the leeward sides of the smaller islands too.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected today with scattered showers for windward and mauka spots during the day. Hazy for the Kona side with mostly clear skies in the morning and isolated showers in the afternoon. High temperatures from 78° to 83°. Winds will be east around 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

East winds are forecast 15 to 30 mph with higher gusts. Mostly cloudy skies for windward spots with showers likely and isolated evening showers for the Kona side with clearing as the night goes on. Low temperatures from 66° to 72°.
