The Hawai‘i County Fire Department responded to an accident on Dec. 25, 2016, at 1:54 a.m. at the Puainako extension, just before Mile Marker 4 in Hilo.

Upon arrival, first responders found an overturned delivery truck down an 8-foot embankment.

The driver self-extricated.

An estimated 70 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from the truck’s fuel tank.
