The picnic area near Kīpukapuaulu on Mauna Loa Road will close Tuesday while workers install a wheelchair-accessible path between the parking lot and the picnic and shelter area.

The work should be complete on Fri., Dec. 9, barring any unforeseen circumstances, such as weather delays.

The park regrets any inconvenience the closure may cause.

Mauna Loa Road, Kīpukapuaulu, and the Tree Molds will remain open.
