Looking Ahead
A disturbance high in the atmosphere and west of Kauai is forecast to keep conditions over the islands unstable through at least the coming weekend. Gentle trade winds are expected through Thursday but will be light enough to allow afternoon sea breezes to develop and produce clouds and showers over interior spots. Nighttime land breezes will produce partial clearing at night and cooler temperatures. The weather feature mentioned above may deepen during the second half of the work week and bring an increase in clouds and showers. Will keep an eye on it.
Today
Mostly sunny today for the Kona side in the morning with partly sunny skies for the afternoon and scattered showers. Isolated showers for windward spots in the morning with numerous showers expected in the afternoon. High temperatures from 79° to 84° and feeling warmer due to the elevated heat index. Winds will be variable up to 15 mph.
UV index at 6 (“high” exposure level)
Tonight
Winds will be variable from 5 to 15 mph. Scattered showers in windward areas with isolated showers for leeward spots. Low temperatures from 69° to 74°.
