Fire Department Responds to Structure Blaze

The Hawai‘i County Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the intersection of Kahakai Boulevard and Opae Road in Pāhoa on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 4:25 a.m.

Company 10 was first on the scene, finding a single-structure fully involved in fire. 

The roadway was closed during initial fire attack with one lane opened once fire under control. 

No occupants were in the structure at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Losses to property and contents were estimated $150,000.

The fire was extinguished at 7:03 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
