Hiroko FujiyoshiHiroko Fujiyoshi
November 11, 1919 – August 12, 2016

A Memorial Service will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary in Kahului on Monday, August 29, 2016 with visitation from 1:00pm-2:00pm and service at 2:00pm.The daughter of Fusayo and Kunitaro Hinahara, Hiroko had four brothers and one sister that are predeceased: Takeshi, Minoru, Hitoshi, Tsutomu and sister Yoshie Oga. One brother, Akira and sister-in-law Sumiko survive her. Hiroko is predeceased by her husband, Tadao Fujiyoshi. She is also survived by her three sons, Gilbert (Grace), Steven (Cal), John (Mary); and one daughter, Joan (Lawrence, deceased) Nagamine.

She was blessed with six grandsons who are Don, Sean, Kelly, Ryan, Christopher and Philip; four granddaughters who are Leslie, Jill, Mari and Carly; ten great-grandchildren who are Kawika, Kauwila, Uilani, Hiilani, Zachary, Aaron Jr., Koren, Ella, Dashel and Miss Koa; and one great-great-grandchild whose name is Mandy. The family wishes to thank the staff and especially the nurses of Kula Hospital for their patience and care for Hiroko Fujiyoshi. We appreciate their compassion and information for family and friends during her stay at Kula Hospital.

Imelda Nicolas Vicente, 52, of Wailuku, passed away on August 9, 2016, under the care of Hospice Maui. She was born on January 27, 1964, in the Philippines.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Norman’s Mortuary. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Norman’s Mortuary; service will begin at 11:00 a.m.; burial will follow, 12:30 p.m., at Valley Isle Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku.

Imelda was a retired Housekeeper at Four Seasons Resort. She is survived by her mother, Enriquita Nicolas; sons, Dexter Vicente, Jeremy Pulido-Vicente, Roel Vicente, Eric Castillo; brothers, Rolando Nicolas, Ferdinand Nicolas, Edilberto Nicolas, MarlonNicolas, David Vicente; and sisters, Elizabeth Vicente, Luzviminda Tavara, and Emelyn Medrano.

Martha Fernandez Tavares, 88, of Kūʻau, Maui, passed away on August 2, 2016, at Hale Makua Kahului. She was born on June 2, 1928, in Kaheka Camp, Upper Paia, Maui.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Holy Rosary Church in Paia. Eulogies will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku. Aloha attire is requested.

Martha was a homemaker; beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a part time sales associate for Woolworth’s Store in Kahului. She is survived by her husband, William D. Tavares; children, Susan (Martin) Tavares-Kenney, Mark Thomas – deceased (Helen Leilani Lynette) Tavares, James William (Helen Kiyomi) Tavares, Mary Elizabeth (John Jr.) Costales, Paul Anthony Tavares; grandchildren ,Sabrina Reid – deceased, Brian Reid, Naomi Reid, Christine Reid – deceased, Emery Tavares, Tasha Tavares, Melissa Tavares, Christopher Tavares, Taylor Tavares, Carlyn Costales, Cheré Costales, Coleson Costales, Danielle Tavares, Dasya Tavares, Devyn Tavares; and great grandchildren, Jaedys Delgado, Jayden Reid, Tanea Tavares, Kaylee Tavares, Wailanamalie Tavares, Kaleouwaloikapono Makuakane, Izeiah Tavares, Izaac Tavares and Jace Kerr; and her siblings, Carmen Carlson, Edna Zane, Lourdes Saito, Lucy Snead, Arthur Fernandez -deceased.

Dionesio Nacua Lamay, Sr. 60, of Lanai City, passed away on August 9, 2016. He was born on September 22, 1955, in Marawi City, Philippines.

Nine day Novena prayer starts on August 13, 2016 at Sacred Hearts Church of Jesus and Mary on Lanai, ending on August 21, 2016 at 6:30 pm. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on August 21, 2016 at the ILWU Hall followed by wake service by Father Jose Macoy. Visitation at the ILWU hall will start at 9:00 am on August 22, 2016; mass beginning at 10 am at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary; burial will follow at the Lanai City Cemetery. Lunch after burial at ILWU hall.5:00pm.

Dionesio was a retired Pesticide Technician for Pulama Lanai. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Mirafuentes Lamay; sons, Christopher Lamay, Dionesio Lamay, Jr.; daughters, Kimberly Lamay, Trisha Lamay; sisters, Gloria (Lorenzo) Belista, Nora (Chris) Calubaquib, Virgie Dinong, Sylvia (Terry) Ambe; brother, Mark (Catherine) Lamay; 5 grandsons; and 3 granddaughters.

Romeo Yanuaria Cadavona, 76 of Kahului, Maui passed away on August 9, 2016 at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Honolulu. He was born on February 7, 1940 in Bacarra, Philippines.
He retired from Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar as an Equipment Operator.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Christ the King Church in Kahului from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; with prayer service to begin at 8:30 p.m., service will continue on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; mass to begin at 9:30 a.m.; burial to follow at Maui Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m.

Romeo is survived by wife, Alma Cadavona; son, Efren (Tammy) Cadavona; daughters, Bella Cadavona, Chanteu (Jason Quiocho) Cadavona; brother, Rudy (Julia) Cadavona; sister, Marciana Aguedan; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Sheree) Cadavona, Ryan Viloria, Kaitlyn Cadavona, Jaleyna Quiocho; 2 great grandchildren, Melanie Tomita-Cadavona and Rayna Lyn Tomita-Cadavona.
