The Salvation Army’s family thrift store, The Sally Shop in Hilo, will sell rare Admission Day newspapers on Friday, Aug. 19, as part of a special sale for Hawai‘i’s observances of Admission Day 2016.

The newspapers are dated from March 12 to August 21, 1959, from the Hilo Tribune-Herald, the Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

The issues document the milestones toward Hawai‘i becoming the 50th state of the United States.

In addition to the rare newspapers, all vintage items will be included in The Sally Shop’s special Admission Day 50%-off storewide sale from 9:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

All purchases will support the work of The Salvation Army in providing services and programs to families and individuals in need.
