The community is invited to an informational meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. regarding upcoming county Department of Water Supply improvements in the vicinity of Haleloke Street and Hokulani Street in Upper Hilo.

The meeting will be held at the future Reservoir Site at the top of the new Punahoa Mauka Estates subdivision on Haleloke Street.

Light refreshments will be served.

The improvements involve the construction of a 2 million gallon reservoir and 7,000 feet of 16-inch transmission waterline, aimed at replacing aging infrastructure and significantly enhancing water supply capacity to a large portion of the Hilo Water System.

The construction work will begin at the end of August 2016 is expected to be completed in December 2017.

While construction is in progress, traffic on Hokulani Street will be reduced to one-lane travel at certain times.

DWS appreciates the community’s understanding while the work progresses and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
