The improvements involve the construction of a 2 million gallon reservoir and 7,000 feet of 16-inch transmission waterline, aimed at replacing aging infrastructure and significantly enhancing water supply capacity to a large portion of the Hilo Water System.

The construction work will begin at the end of August 2016 is expected to be completed in December 2017.

This investment to upgrade Hilo’s existing water infrastructure will allow the department to continue to meet the potable water needs of the community.
