KAPA Radio to Host Back to School Supply Drive
In keeping with its commitment to the well-being and healthy development of Hawai’i Island keiki, KAPA Hawaiian FM, in partnership with Hawaii Island United Way, will hold a school supplies drive on Saturday, July 23, at the Hilo and Kona WalMart stores.
The goal of the community action—the “Kāko‘o I Nā Keiki Support the Children Community Initiative”—is to achieve change by addressing concerns that were brought to the organizations from elementary school teachers.
A live broadcast with KAPA DJs will be held from 10 a.m. 2 p.m., while HIUW representatives collect school supplies and monetary donations.
The partnership will help to provide much-needed items to elementary school children in public school who will otherwise go without.
Every day, dozens of Big Island school keiki go to class without slippers on their feet, without food to nourish them, and without adequate school supplies.
With this innovative and collaborative effort, the community will benefit as the partnership strives to advance the common good for all Hawai‘i Island keiki.
Donations can also be made online.
