Autopsy Rules Out Foul Play

An autopsy performed on the body of Clarence George Keliinui Hatori, 38, of Pāhoa, has ruled out foul play.

On June 16, Hatori was in custody in the police cellblock when he collapsed and was transported to Hilo Medical Center.

On June 30, he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

On July 1, the medical examiner performing the autopsy determined that, although foul play was ruled out, she will await toxicology results and additional analysis before making a determination as to the cause of death.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section are continuing the investigation, which is classified as a coroner’s inquest.
