The State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation and the County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works have announced the following temporary road and lane closures for Friday, July 1, through Friday, July 8, 2016.

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather-permitting.

There will be no roadwork on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

  • HAKALAU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
    Alternating lane closures on Umauma Bridge in the vicinity of Hakalau (Route 19, Milepost 16) in both directions over a 24-hour period, seven days a week for bridge rehabilitation. Travel speed on Umauma Bridge is reduced to 20 mph, and vehicles that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon application of their respective oversize-overweight vehicle permits. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing over the bridge is 12 feet.

VOLCANO ROAD/MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

  • KEA‘AU
    Lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) in the Volcano-bound direction between Milepost Markers 6.7 and 8.2 in the vicinity of the Kea‘au on Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadway reconstruction work.
    HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)
  • HAKALAU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

    Alternating single lane closures on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) in both directions between Kulaimano Road and Kauniho Road in the vicinity of Pepe‘ekeo to Hakalau on Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadway improvements.

SADDLE ROAD (ROUTE 200)

  • UPPER KAUMANA
    Alternating single lane closures on Saddle Road (Highway 200) in both directions between Milepost Markers 8.5 and 11.5 in the vicinity of upper Kaumana on Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 8, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily, for grading of the new Daniel K. Inouye Highway, East Side alignment.
    KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250)
  • HAWI
    Alternating one lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) in both directions between Milepost Markers 18 and 21, in the vicinity of Hawi Hill, on Wednesday, July 6, through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadway reconstruction work.
