Water will be temporarily turned of from 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, to 2 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, in select areas of the Waimea and Kohala areas to make a waterline connection for the new Waimea District Park.

Areas affected by the water shutoff notice include all services along Mamalahoa Highway from Lindsey Road to Waimea Airport, including Kaomoloa Road and all connecting streets in the Luala‘i subdivision, Ahuli Circle, Ahuli Place, Lalamilo Farm Road, Pu‘uhuluhulu Road and the water standpipe on Mamalahoa Highway, and in South Kohala.

Upon resumption of water service, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time residents may notice turbid and/or discolored water.

Air may also be trapped in plumbing, which will be released as water is used.

Affected customers are asked to take any and all precautions necessary to protect property and facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices that may be dependent on water pressure and/or water supply, and might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shutoff.

For more information, call Water Service District Supervisor William O’Neil at 887-3030.
