No-Kill Conference to Feature Nathan Winograd
Big Island Dog Rescue is hosting a No-Kill Conference in Kailua-Kona on Saturday, June 25, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.
This conference will feature Nathan Winograd, the author of Redemption, which was also made into a film.
The event will also offer proven ways to turn animal shelters with high kill rates into life-saving no-kill shelters.
The opening ceremony begins at 8 a.m.; a screening Redemption the No Kill Presentation will continue through 11 a.m.
From 1 to 4 p.m., solutions will be offered on how to turn Hawai’i Island into a no-kill community.
Currently, over 300 shelters across the Mainland have achieved a 90% live release rate.
Big Island Dog Rescue’s aims to achieve this same goal by 2017.
Big Island Dog Rescue is a family-run organization that helps relocate adoptable dogs from Hawai‘i to the Mainland. Its mission is to reduce the kill rate of adoptable dogs at the humane societies on the Hawaiian Islands to zero.
