Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd is returning to the Hawaiian Islands and will be the headliner at People’s Theatre in Honoka‘a on Wednesday, June 22.

Rudd is an Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose songs incorporate socially conscious themes, such as spirituality, humanity, environmentalism and the rights of Aboriginal peoples.

Since the very beginning, Rudd’s ability to connect with people has been his most powerful gift.

The more he has toured the world, the more hearts he has touched, and the more of the world he has put back into his music.

Rudd has enthralled audiences with his ability to wield a variety of instruments at once by introducing a sound that is a mix of guitars, Weissenborn slide guitar, yidakis (didgeridoos), stomp box, percussion and blues harp simultaneously by using a unique stage setup.

But the real magic is his soulful voice.

It is an experience to watch him perform his songs live. His music is something distinctly new, yet tied back through time to the spirit of our ancestors with a strong message of all people coming together around the globe to return to spirit, to respect the ancient ways, and to protect the Earth and the very essence of creation.

Rudd kicked off last year by unveiling his ninth album, Nanna, a long-awaited dream project backed by The United Nations, an eight-piece international all-star band.

Rudd brought together musicians from all corners of the globe, representing the diverse cultures of Australia, Indigenous Australia, South Africa, Samoa, Germany and Papua New Guinea.

Mixed by Errol Brown, album track Flag is the perfect representation of this sound, and indeed the spirit within the musician. It is a passionate call to unite, wrapped in pure Tuff Gong authenticity.

Nanna earns its place in Rudd’s impressive discography. He has released two platinum-selling albums—Solace (2004) and Food In The Belly (2005), while the triumphant Spirit Bird (2012) peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA charts.

Fresh off of a sold-out 27-date tour of Europe, the show is refined, tight and more exciting than ever.

After hitting the Big Island, Maui, O‘ahu and Kaua‘i, Rudd will be making appearances at High Sierra and Wanderlust festivals, as well as shows in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Boulder, Colorado.
