Experts to Preview Hawaiian Horse Book
Dr. Billy Bergin and Dr. Brady Bergin will preview their book, The Hawaiian Horse, on Monday, June 13, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lyman Museum in Hilo.
Probably no one person in Hawai‘i knows more about the horse than Billy Bergin, Parker Ranch’s long-serving veterinarian, historian and author.
He and is son, Brady, a veterinarian, co-authored The Hawaiian Horse, which will be published by UH Press in early 2017.
The duo will cover the introduction of the various equine species to Hawai‘i in 1803 through their present-day roles in the Islands, from draft animal, plantation and ranch stock, to government, sports, cavalry and pleasure uses.
Whether you already know a lot or just a little about equines in Hawai‘i, you’re sure to learn more from these two experts.
The nationally accredited and Smithsonian-affiliated Lyman Museum showcases the natural and cultural history of Hawai‘i.
The Lyman Museum, located at 276 Haili Street, is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
