Man Arrested, Charged After Alleged Theft

The Hawa’i Police Department has charged a 35-year-old Kailua-Kona man with four offenses after he allegedly broke into a car in the parking lot of a big-box store in Kona.

Police say that the incident occurred on Tuesday.

Kona Patrol officers responded to a report of a backpack stolen from a vehicle parked in the Henry Street parking lot.

Jason K. Lindsey, the suspect in the theft, was located nearby and arrested at 3:45 p.m.
Lindsey was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

At 10:10 a.m. Friday, he was charged with unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, theft, promoting a dangerous drug, and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $6,250.

He remains at the cellblock pending his initial court appearance, scheduled for Friday.
