Utility Pole Work to Close Portion of Kona Road

A partial lane closure near the intersection of Nāpo‘opo‘o Road and Māmalahoa Highway at the 11 mile marker in Kailua-Kona will begin on Saturday, May 14.

One lane will be closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily as hole digging operations and the installation of new utility poles takes place. Work will not be conducted on Sundays and is expected to last through May.

Motorists should anticipate 10 to 15 minute delays in the area.

The closure is part of the County of Hawai’i’s highway intersection improvement project.
