Lane closures associated with road work being conducted on the Big Island continue through the weekend at various locations.

Road work projects will continue over the weekend at the Umauma Bridge, causing the area to remain under a 24-hour single lane closure. The Umauma Bridge, which is located near mile marker 16 on Highway 19, is undergoing bridge rehabilitation. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 miles per hour.

The Hawai’i County Department of Public Works also notes continued reconstruction work on Komohana Street, from Kukuau Street towards Waianuenue Avenue. The project involves the reconstruction of about 4,000 feet of roadway, traffic signal upgrades, pavement striping, and the replacement of utility valves and boxes. A portion of the roadway was under a single lane closure, but has since been opened up to narrow two-way traffic.
