Five Ka’u students were recently awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Harry McKee Scholarship Foundation.
The students will use the funds to further their education in the 2016-2017 school year.
Ka’u High School seniors Monica Corvarrubio, Sheilla Felipe, and Mahealani Enos received the award, along with Konawaena High School senior Bernadette Cagampang and Kaweni Ibarra, who graduated from Ka’u High School and now attends California State University Sacramento.
The McKee Scholarship Foundation is based in Ocean View, and is managed by a volunteer board of directors who strive to carry on McKee’s legacy of providing students with higher education opportunities.
