Special members of the staff at North Hawai’i Community Hospital were honored on Thursday, which marked National Therapy Animal Day.
The furry hospital friends are members of NHCH’s canine corps, providing comfort to the hospital’s patients.
During their celebratory day, the dogs joined their handlers for fun and games as a token of appreciation for their efforts throughout the year.
Competitive games, fancy tricks, and a canine-only cake were featured. Each pup even got a goodie map to take home, thanks to support from Petco.
NHCH officials say that the dogs’ presence is often times the highlight of a patient’s day.
