UH-Hilo Honors 78 on ‘National STUDENT-Athlete Day’

A total of 76 student athletes at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo were recognized for their academic and community service work on “National STUDENT-Athlete” Day, which is recognized on April 6.

Started by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports in 1987, “National STUDENT-Athlete Day” recognizes college athletes from across the country who earn a minimum 3.0 grade point average and take part in community service activities.

Baseball, women’s and men’s soccer, and softball each featured 11 athletes who met the qualifications. Women’s basketball followed with nine qualifying student-athletes.

Cross Country – Riley Arroyo, Crystal-Lynn Baysa, Anna Mikkelson, Kaylee Rapoza

Women’s Golf – Shannon Abarra, Shantel Antonio, Andi Igawa, Keely Kitamura, Kristen Sawada
