dws 1A temporary water shut-off is slated to take place on Friday along Lanikaula Street between Ululani Street and Kapiolani Street, including Kapiolani Street between Lanikaula Street and Kawili Street in Hilo, between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The Department of Water Supply says the shut-off is for scheduled waterline work, part of the Kapiolani Street Extension Project.

Once water services resumes, the lines will be flushed and cleaned, according to DWS. During the flushing and cleaning period, customers may experience turbid and/or discolored water, as well as trapped air in plumbing. Service will resume to normal as water is used.

Customers should take necessary precautions, including disabling electrical power to pumps and other devices that depend on water pressure or supply.
