The Department of Public Safety reports that a Big Island extended furlough inmate has failed to report for his scheduled check-in at Hawai’i Community Correctional Center.

Michael Joyce, 60, is serving time for Assault 2. It is anticipated that Escape 2 will also be added to his charges.

Joyce is described as 5-foot-6 and 150 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Inmates within the extended furlough program live and work outside the facility but are required to check in at various times.

Joyce is classified as community custody, which is the lowest custody level.

DPS officials say State Sheriffs and the Hawai’i Police Department were notified of his failure to check in.

Joyce’s next parole hearing was scheduled for June 2016.

Anyone who sees Joyce is urged to call 911.
