New Member Appointed to State Judicial Selection Commission

Hawai’i Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald appointed Dr. Richard A. Dubanoski as a member of the state Judicial Selection Commission.

Dr. Dubanoski was sworn in on Friday and will replace Dr. Phyllis C. Horner for the remainder of her term.

The role is effective April 2 and will expire on April 1, 2019.

Dr. Dubanoski is Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. He was Dean of the University’s College of Social Sciences from 1989 to 2011.

In 2006, Dr. Dubanoski was named UH Manager of the Year, and in 2011, he was presented with the Willard Wilson Award for Distinguished Service to the University.

Dr. Dubanoski earned his masters and doctorate in Child Development from the University of Minnesota. He also has an extensive background in research on a broad cross section of social issues affecting a variety of community interests.
