Pair Arrested, Charged in Stolen Vehicle Incident

A Hilo man and Kea’au woman were arrested on Monday after being located in a stolen vehicle.

The Hawai’i Police Department reports that 22-year-old Kimo Oberle and 18-year-old Keahi Javine were spotted Monday on Saddle Road in a vehicle that was removed from 19th Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park on Saturday.

Officers followed the pair into Hilo, where Oberle and Javine fled from the vehicle but were ultimately arrested nearby and taken to the Hilo police cellblock as an investigation continued.

The stolen vehicle was recovered.

Oberle was charged on Tuesday with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. His bail was set at $2,000.

Javine was charged with burglary, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and unauthorized possession of personal confidential information. Her bail was set at $9,000.

The pair remained at the cellblock as they awaited their initial court appearance, scheduled for Wednesday.
