Hawai’i CC – Pālamanui Helps Students ‘Slay the Math Monster’

Two free public workshops on conquering the “math monster” will be offered by Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui.

“Slaying the Mental Math Monster for Good” is aimed at helping current and incoming HawCC students face their fear of math.

Two sessions will be held next week at the new North Kona Hawai’i CC campus.

On Tuesday, March 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the first session will take place in Room 126.

Another session will be held on Thursday, March 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in room 125.

Workshop participants will learn how to overcome their negative math mindset, about the condensed math pathways at Hawai’i CC – Pālamanui, a mini math refresher, and resources to help succeed in math.

The workshops are coordinated and hosted by University Center Specialist Carrie Kuwada Phipps. Hawai’i CC Pālamanui math instructors Toni Cravens, Jim McCleery, and student tutor Brad Levandowski will conduct the workshops.
