Volcano Art Center will host a Hands-On Fermentation Workshop on Saturday, March 26.

The 12 p.m. workshop will be led by Jasmine Silverstein of HeartBeet Catering.

Silverstein will guide participants in a hands-on instructional lesson on how to make your own sauerkraut and pickles with various combinations of vegetables.

No cooking skills are necessary, and all supplies, including organic ingredients, will be provided.

Fermented foods have been a part of every ancient culture throughout history. Sauerkraut, pickles, and yogurt are a few of the many traditional live-cultured, fermented foods which were developed out of the need to preserve food before refrigeration was possible.

The cost for the workshop is $55 general and $50 for VAC members.
