A temporary water shut-off will take place Friday along Manono Street between Kekuanaoa Street and Leilani Street in Hilo between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Department of Water Supply says the shut-off in necessary to remove a 6-inch main valve.
Once water service resumes, DWS crews will flush and clean the waterlines. During this period, customers may notice turbid and/or discolored water, as well as trapped air. As water is used, the issues should dissipate.
Customers in the affected area should take precautions to protect property that is dependent on water flow, or pressure. In addition, customers should prepare for their drinking water needs by storing water in a container.
