A 1,300-square foot family dwelling went into flames Thursday evening.

The Hawai’i County Fire Department arrived at the home, located on Laimana Road in Pahoa, at about 7:25 p.m. to find the home fully engulfed in the fire, along with a Ford sedan adjacent to the structure that was also on fire.

HFD fire fighters forced entry through a locked front gate, cutting a lock before working on the fire that was under control at about 8 p.m.
