Damage caused by high surf at Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park has caused the continued closure of the Pu’uhonua section.

Assessments and cleanup work are underway in the area, according to a park spokesperson.

The Royal Grounds has remained open throughout the closure and the picnic area was reopened on Monday.
