UPDATE: Kaloko Drive Open After Traffic Accident

The Hawai’i Police Department says that Kaloko Drive is once again open following this morning’s vehicle accident that involved a utility pole.

The Hawai’i Police Department is asking motorists in Kailua-Kona to avoid Kaloko Drive because of a traffic accident.

HPD reported the incident just after 2:45 a.m. Sunday. The accident involved a vehicle and a utility pole, and caused electrical wires to fall in the area just above Kaloko Hills Drive.

There are no alternate routes around the area, according to police, who expects the road to reopen early Sunday afternoon. Crews have been dispatched to the scene to make repairs.
