An assault that stemmed from a confrontation in the parking lot of Walmart in Hilo Wednesday is being investigated by the Hawai’i Police Department.

HPD reports that at about 3:32 p.m., South Hilo officers responded to the parking lot, where they found 32-year-old David James Nall being restrained by other individuals.

Nall, who has no permanent address, was initially arrested by police for disorderly conduct.

A 34-year old man was later located. He told police that he and an unknown man, later determined to be Nall, had been in a physical confrontation and that the man had used a knife to assault him.

The victim had left the scene via private vehicle to head to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of lacerations to his head. The injuries were not life threatening.
