The competition is professional surfing’s premier annual event held on the North Shore of Oʻahu. It was created to set apart the three Hawaiʻi events from the international professional surfing circuit. The Triple Crown includes the Billabong Pipe Masters (Dec.8-20), the Vans World Cup of Surfing (Nov. 24 – Dec. 6), and the Hawaiian Pro (Nov. 12-23).

Company executives say the sponsorship between Rising Sun Solar and Vans Triple Crown of Surfing demonstrates the commitment to provide homeowners with a simple and affordable way to get all the benefits of solar while promoting a conscientious and sustainable lifestyle.

“We’re excited to be the first to integrate home solar awareness into professional surfing,” said Joti Mangat, Rising Sun Solar Director of Marketing. “Rising Sun Solar is a local Hawaiʻi company with people who share the same ocean-minded values and lifestyle as the athletes and fans. Our partnership with Sunrun helps Hawaiʻi homeowners go solar without the high costs and hassle of owning and maintaining a solar PV system.”

Making its official debut at the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing will be Rising Sun Solar’s “Sponsored by the Sun” project, which sponsors anyone to become a “solar activist” and raise solar awareness in their local community.

Helping to showcase the campaign are “Sponsored by the Sun” ambassadors – 2015 HIC Pro winner Ian Walsh, seven-time world Stand-up Paddling champion Kai Lenny, father and son watermen Kody Kerbox and Buzzy Kerbox, Robby Swift, and Kaleo Amadeo — some of Maui’s most accomplished surfers and watermen.

Since 2007, Sunrun has made going solar simple for homeowners by customizing their solar system to their lifestyle and savings goals. Through its solar as a service model, Sunrun makes it simple and accessible for consumers to learn about and get solar for their home – whether online, over the phone, in retail environments, or even at professional surfing competitions.

“Sponsored by the Sun” is a Hawaiʻi non-profit that helps create awareness that solar savings are equivalent to a sponsorship for sport, team, or organization.

Rising Sun Solar is a Maui-based solar contractor which started over 13 years ago when they installed the 7th Net Metered PV system on Maui. Rising Sun is a Sunrun Certified Partner of Sunrun.

The Maui business was chosen as the island’s Best Green Business in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2015.
