The Hawai’i Police Department has joined in on the search for Hale Nani Correctional Facility escapee Scottie Yanagawa.

Twenty-nine-year-old Yanagawa is a furlough inmate at the facility who was out on a day pass and failed to return for his scheduled check-in at 2 p.m.

HPD officials, along with State Sheriffs, were notified by the State of Hawai’i Department of Public Safety of his failure to return.

Yanagawa is described as 5-foot-5 and 165 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and tattoos of skulls on his left hand and upper arm, as well as tribal tattoos running down his right arm.
