Hale Nani Reintegration Center furlough inmate Scottie Yanagawa is missing.

Officials with the Hawai’i State Department of Public Safety say the inmate failed to return from a day pass.

Yanagawa left the center Thursday morning and was supposed to return at 2 p.m. When he failed to return, State Sheriffs and the Hawai’i Police Department were notified.

The 29-year-old man is reportedly 5-foot-5 and 165 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Yanagawa is serving time for theft and burglary. His next schedule parole hearing is scheduled for May 2016.

Once located, Yanagawa will face an additional charged for escape.

Community custody inmates, like Yanagawa, are the system’s lowest classification status. Yanagawa was in the work furlough program with pass privileges.
