Friends of the Natural Energy Laboratory Hawai’i Authority has named a new executive director in Candee Ellsworth.

Ellsworth most recently worked as executive director of the Nature’s Nursery Center for Wildlife & Conservation Education in Ohio.

Prior to her role in Ohio, Ellsworth spent 16 years as conservation coordinator of the Toledo Zoo and as a graduate program adjunct professor at Miami University.

Ellsworth earned a master’s degree in biology from Miami University and a bachelor’s degree in zoology from The University of Findlay.

In her new role with the FON, Ellsworth will oversee the organization’s operations, which includes weekday public tours and presentations that focus on renewable energy and aquaculture at the ocean science and technology park.
