Looking Ahead

Locally breezy trade winds are expected through tonight. As usual, the trades will carry showers into windward areas but leeward areas will be mostly dry. A cloud area off to the east of the state will make windward areas of the Big Island and Maui rather wet early this morning. The trade winds are forecast to weaken starting tonight and rainfall will decrease as the atmosphere dries out.

Hurricane Olaf is forecast to pass well east of the islands over the weekend. Olaf is expected to bring large surf to the islands and turn the winds out of the north, but it is too soon to know what other impacts Olaf will have. We will keep an eye on this situation and let you know if anything changes drastically.

Two frontal bands may possibly bring some wet weather early next week.
