Hawai’i is full of creative minds as do it yourself costumes were at the top of the list, followed by searches for lion, mermaid, ninja, and sailor costumes.

“Hawaiians are both crafty and aquatic in their costuming,” Estately wrote on Hawai’i’s search finds.

The study found that states in the Mountain West, Great Plains, and Northeast didn’t show a strong interest in costumes, while places like Utah and New Jersey showed extensive searches for costumes.

Among other top costumes were a pregnant nun in California, a gnome in Minnesota, and a potato in Ohio.
