A pair of shutouts has earned Pahoa native Cassidy Dixon a spot in this week’s PacWest Conference men’s soccer weekly awards.

Dixon was named the PacWest Conference’s Defender of the Week for his goalkeeping work in a pair of wins for the University of Hawai’i at Hilo men’s soccer team.

Dixon, a junior, made a career-best 10 saves in a 1-0 overtime victory at home against Brigham Young University-Hawai’i. Two days later, he stopped both shots he faced in the Vulcans’ 3-0 win over Dominican University.

The shutouts were the first two Dixon recorded on the season. He is 2-0 in four appearances in goal for UH-Hilo this season.
