A Small Craft Advisory is posted for the ʻAlenuihāhā channel as well as Big Island southeast waters through 6 a.m. Monday for east winds up to 25 knots and seas up to 10 feet.

Hilo side: Wave heights are expected waist/chest high today. The best breaks could get up to shoulder high on the sets.

Kona side: Wave heights waist/tummy/chest high are expected today. The best breaks could get a bit bigger on the sets. Smaller waves are expected for spots not open to the south-southwest.

South: Wave heights waist/shoulder high are expected today. Best breaks could get a bit bigger on the sets.

Screen Shot 2015-10-18 at 8.10.19 PMOur current north-northwest continues to fade Monday. Another shot of northwest is expected build through the day Tuesday and peak Wednesday afternoon.

Our current south-southwest swell is expected to continue through Tuesday before an easing trend takes hold Wednesday. New swell out of the southern hemisphere is expected Thursday.

Tropical swell is possible for the second half of this week. Will keep an eye on it.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
