Scheduled Lane Closures Oct. 19-23
The State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation and the County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works have announced the following temporary road closures for Monday, Oct. 12 through Friday, Oct. 16.
Road work will be conducted between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. by the DOT on the following roadways:
Roadway improvements will be done between Kulaimano Road and Kauniho Road on Highway 19. Alternating single lane closures will be in place. The work will be conducted in the vicinity of Pepeekeo to Hakalau.
In addition, work along Highway 19 in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch, between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, will be under a single lane closure in both directions from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. as roadway improvements continue.
Continuous activity on Umauma Bridge in Hakalau will cause alternating lane closures near mile marker 16 on Highway 19 to remain on a seven-day-a-week, 24-hour schedule as bridge rehabilitation work is underway. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 miles per hour.
Road work will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. by DPW on the following roadways:
Waikoloa Road will be under alternating lane closures as crews work to construct nine-foot asphalt concrete shoulders on both sides of Waikoloa Road from Highway 190 to Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway.
Ongoing construction work between Lanikaula Street and Kawili Street for the Kapiolani Extension continues. Alternating lane closures will take place about 800 feet towards Kawili Street. Street parking is unavailable in the area and two-way traffic will be reduced to one lane. Work includes the installation of a new concrete curb, drainage improvements, gutter and sidewalks, roadway reconstruction, signing and striping, utility relocation, driveway, and property tie-ins.
Reconstruction work on Komohana Street, from Kukuau Street towards Waianuenue Avenue, will be conducted. The project involves the reconstruction of about 4,000 feet of roadway, traffic signal upgrades, pavement striping, and the replacement of utility valves and boxes. Alternating lane closures will be in effect in the area. The roadwork will begin at 7 a.m.
Ka’iminani Drive, between Kakahiaka Street and Ane Keohokalole Highway in West Hawai’i, is undergoing pavement work. Crews will pave about 2,300 feet of roadway and install temporary pavement markings. An alternate lane closure system will be in place during working hours. Work on the project will run through 4:30 p.m. daily.
All lane closures are weather permitting and have the possibility of changing without notice.
