A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all island waters through 6 a.m. Wednesday. East winds up to 30 knots and seas up to 13 feet are expected. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Big Island Surf Forecast
Hilo side: Wave heights are expected shoulder/head high today. The best breaks could get up to overhead on the sets.
Kona side: Wave heights knee/thigh high are expected today. Spots not catching swell will be flat.
South: Wave heights knee/thigh high are expected for the breaks open to the south-southwest. Trade swell mix is expected up to waist/chest high with shoulder/head high waves at the best breaks on the sets.

Small SSW swell is expected to continue today. Another new minor south-southwest swell is expected to move in Thursday.
Trade winds will continue to generate short-period surf along east facing shores. Another larger pulse is expected midweek and forecast to peak Wednesday afternoon and Thursday.
We are looking at fading swell from Niala.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
