The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Advisory to 8:45 p.m. for heavy rain falling along leeward Big Island.

Leeward slopes from Kailua-Kona to Milolii are getting pretty wet. Rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour are being observed at this time.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for portions of the Big Island through 5:45 p.m.

On Thursday afternoon, rain gauges showed that heavy showers were falling along the leeward slopes of the island from Kailua-Kona to Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. Rain is falling at more than three inches per hour in some areas.

NWS says heavy showers are expected through the rest of the afternoon.

Captain Cook, Honaunau, Honaunau-Napoopoo and Keauhou are included in the advisory.
