The Hawai’i County Fire Department suspended its ground search Saturday for missing 62-year-old Jolee Resiwig, who went missing Monday evening at Boiling Pots, located on the Wailuku River in Hilo.

HFD officials say an aerial search will resume Sunday morning.

Reiswig was on an inflatable tube at Boiling Pots with a companion Monday. The pair was in a calm area but were pulled into rough water, where they reportedly fell off their tubes. HFD noted earlier in the week that the male was able to swim safely to the river bank, but Reiswig disappeared.

Raging river conditions made it difficult for swiftwater rescuers to conduct their search throughout the week. However, crews deployed into river eddies near the victims last known point.

Captain Charles Spain said that searches generally continue for five days, but crews will rejoin the search via air at first light.
