Scheduled Lane Closures Sept. 8-11
The State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation and the County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works has announced the following temporary road closures for Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 11.
Road work will be conducted between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. by the DOT on the following roadways:
On Highway 19, also known as Hawai’i Belt Road, an alternating single lane closure in both directions will take place between Jardine Road and Puualaea Homestead Road. The roadway improvements will be conducted near Laupahoehoe Gulch.
Roadway improvements will also be done between Kulaimano Road and Kauniho Road on Highway 19. Alternating single lane closures will be in place. The work will be conducted in the vicinity of Pepeekeo to Hakalau.
In addition, work along Highway 19 in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch, between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, will be under a single lane closure in both directions. Roadway improvements will cause the closure.
Continuous activity on Umauma Bridge in Hakalau will cause alternating lane closures near mile marker 16 on Highway 19 to remain on a seven-day-a-week, 24-hour schedule as bridge rehabilitation work is underway. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 miles per hour.
Road work will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. by DPW on the following roadways:
Leilani Street, between Manono Street and Hinano Street, will be closed for construction. During the closures, only local traffic and pedestrians will be allowed access. Construction will consist of the installation of an underground drainage structure.
Ongoing construction work between Lanikaula Street and Kawili Street for the Kapiolani Extension continues. Alternating lane closures will take place about 800 feet towards Kawili Street. Street parking is unavailable in the area and two-way traffic will be reduced to one lane. Work includes the installation of a new concrete curb, drainage improvements, gutter and sidewalks, roadway reconstruction, signing and striping, utility relocation, driveway, and property tie-ins.
All lane closures are weather permitting and have the possibility of changing without notice.
